The next JBC update will be epic for schools and educational institutions with the implementation of an AtomPub system.
Using the WiFi, students and teachers can log on to their school's server and download all books, homework assignments, notes, and more for all their classes instantly to the jetBook Color.
This is revolutionary when it comes to mass distribution of files for schools and we are excited to be working with so many institutions guiding us to help them create and more tech friendly environment.
And like always, if you want to see any features added to the JBC just comment anywhere on this blog, check out our forums or write directly to Greg Stetson at greg@ectaco.com

What is the release date for the next update?
ReplyDeleteShould be mid-June. We'll also be adding a multitude of other features and bug fixes as well.
DeleteHey Greg,
ReplyDeleteI would certainly like to see updates like:
- Make it possible to have more than 200 digital files (e.g. pdfs) in one directory (I have over 1200 on my Kindle)
- Release a Web Browser. It would be awesome to be able to surf on the web with an eink color. Even the speed doesn't have to be too fast (like the Kindle Dx)
- There is no CHM Support
- The Mobi Format support is far from good
- PDF Support is rudimentary and with some PDFs it just crashs
I bought the JetBook Color as a reading device (like many others) so it would be nice to have more possibilities
Hey Greg,
DeleteI mostly miss the function of rotating a DIN A4 (PDF) e-Book to landscape mode so that it is possible to read a huge PDF in the right width (and by flipping it from top to bottom half page like the Kinde DX is able to). PDF reflow is fine but sometimes it's better to have the pictures and graphics in the right format
Hey, thanks for the comments. We are addressing a few issues in the next update and will hopefully implement a few of these as well. I'll post the exact specs of the next update as soon as it's available.
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool to be able to read some books digitally stored on my pc, via wifi, though I doubt this is what this post is about... THen again, it's pretty easy to just upload files to the SD card.
ReplyDeleteUSB host functionality to read from USB drives and receive an internet connection via USB would be fantastic. Also some way to save notes taken with the stylus so that they can be read on other devices would be great.
ReplyDeleteJetBook Color screen is too dark compared to Kindle DX. It would be nice if the screen contrast could be improved.
ReplyDeleteSupport for CBR and CBZ comic files - and an option to center the pages. Center option for PDF files would also be good. Option to rotate to landscape mode. Support and search for books by tags. Working browser. Notepad.
