Ectaco to present colored electronic text book

St. Petersburg firm Ectaco, producer of electronic translators, linguistic programs and electronic books, is to present the first in the world full-format electronic textbook for schools jetBook Color, based on the color electronic paper technology (Color E Ink),NanoNewsNet reports.

The presentations is reportedly to be held at the 24th Moscow International Book Fair to take place on September 7-12, 2011.

The device, weighing 554 grams, can replace all the traditional school text-books, record-books, dictionaries and many other school appliances. jetBook Color allows the students to communicate with teachers, look through schedule, homework, read electronic books and study languages. One of the main differences of the JetBook Color from its competitors is the colored 9.7-inch display, which is visually similar to a page of a standard school text-book.

The device contains: the Single State Examination preparation course; a set of text books for the 6th grade of the middle school; reference books on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography; interactive course of the Russian History; interactive Mendeleyev Table of chemical elements; set of books for extracurricular reading; graphic and science calculators; Oxford dictionaries with pronunciation, recorded by professional native-speakers; fast reading course; linguistic crosswords and many others.

The jetBook Color electronic textbook features are: colored sensor display E-Ink with 9.68-inch diagonal; display resolution of 1,600 by 1,200 pixels; processor speed of 800 MHz; virtual keyboard; support of main graphic, text, audio and video formats; support of microSD memory cards with 32 Gb space; WiFi support; 3G model (optional); USB 2.0 port; plastic box with rubber section in the back; ability to identify location of a textbook with a GPS chip.
